| Posted: | | | | The only time I did out a disc is when something looks wrong or out of place. Like cover scans or somtimes cast/crew contributions. I every now and then spot check peoples contributions. For new people to the system I check there work untill they are reliable. I now know who I can trust to be accurate almost 100% of the time. But should I have to put a dvd into my PC's drive to be able to vote.... ABSOLUTLY NOT | | | Last edited: by Dragon 6 |

| Posted: | | | | In general, contributions should be made only for profiles which the contributor owns and can verify. Similarly, contribution votes should be made only for profiles which the voter owns and can verify.
However, there are exceptions. Obviously, prerelease contributions do not require ownership. They should be basic starter information (e.g. complete cast and crew is impossible to correctly contribute without having the disc).
Taking another case, if a particular locality has blank or limited cast info, and the submitter would like to fill it in with their verified cast from their own locality, I would tend to allow the voters who actually own the submitted locality to make the call. However, the submitted contribution notes should clearly indicate that the cast is from the other locality, so that the voters and contribution evaluators can make an informed choice.
One additional reminder to please keep the contribution vote notes completely civil at all times. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

Just a quick note. Don't forget is that part of this discussion stems from users who are Contributing Profile modifications for versions, localities and Regions they do not own. While MOST of the time there is one set of credit data and that is the end of it, BUT this is NOT ALWAYS true, therefore modifying a Profile for other than the version, region, locality that you own can cause MAJOR problems. These should be watched out for an rejected regardless of vote, we have a couple of outstanding examples in the cue right now. I appreciate the motive that the users have in trying to help, but as I learned when I tried my experiment over a year agio, the common credit list is not always true and the while the motives are good, the end result is bad for the database.
Thanks for the clarification.

I just want to be clear on this, just to make sure I am reading it right: If the name is John Doe [John A. Doe], then John A. Doe is added to the CLT, right? |

I just want to be clear on this, just to make sure I am reading it right:
If the name is John Doe [John A. Doe], then John A. Doe is added to the CLT, right? That is my understanding. It is assumed that the profile originally had 'John A. Doe' because that is what was in the credits. Moving 'John A. Doe', from the name field to the 'credited as' field, would have no effect on the CLT. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
