I have a number legacy programs I use that have older back ends that I use that I will run the compact/repair/re-index on pretty regularly. Though that is mostly to keep things packed, under certain file sizes, and for performance reasons on the systems involved. Granted that is a pretty special case. |

To be honest, I often use the repair tool as a "cleaner" (to remove unused cast/crew) That's my main purpose as well. Since we can't download profiles without cast, crew or studios I regularily clean up the database to remove names that don't match with mine and all studios. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | The only big program where I run a DB repair (so to speak) is Outlook.
I regularily move old mails into archive PST files. But that doesn't stop Outlook's main PST file from growing and growing (and growing). Only a "compress" function will actually remove the "empty sections" of the file.
I once reduced the PST file from 1.2 gigs to 230 megs. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

The program works well at the moment.
But with no Ken feedback we have no idea if he is still alive and well, or in a nursing home, or moving on to other challenges, or if any plans have been made for such enevitable future eventualities. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree it has been too long for an update. They ask to refer friends and I have in the past when it was being updated but kind of hard to tell folks this is the best out there. I hope things will change because I have tried many others and I love the layout and user friendly of this program. |

| Posted: | | | | I've been using DVD Profiler for 3 years and I must admit that it has really covered almost all my needs. But IMHO we all have to admit that there is one major drawback that is has to be fixed. This is called UNICODE support. We're living the year of 2014 and I think that any Database application that does not support Unicode is almost OBSOLETE. I also have to say that if I had known this before purchasing DVDP I would have chosen another product, but now it's too late, as it is almost impossible for me to start cataloging 2500 titles from the beginning. |

Is that latter comment really true? DVDP has complete and powerful facilities, augmented by plugins, to convert its profile data into just about any format, unless of course the target product has no import function. I'm willing to bet that the main reason you don't switch, is that there isn't anything better! | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. I just meant that I do not have the time to do it. Anyway I think you're missing the point here. I wish you'd commented on my opinion about the Unicode support than telling me that it's easy to abandon PVD for another Application. I still believe that DVDP is really great Application | | | Last edited: by koliniol |
