| Posted: | | | | Just today I needed three profiles for recently acquired dvds but they were not in the 3.0 database. There were however perfectly good profiles minus covers in 2.5 which I've decided to use and save time by not entering them from scratch. Moral of the story is that with Ken bringing in 1000's of profiles over in bulk there are still entries not in the database 8 months into the new program. I'd hate to think how long it would take to bring all that stuff over if he hadn't done it. I wager it would take years to do what he did in a day. | | | Last edited: by Bodi |

| Posted: | | | | I see that this thread needs some boosting.
Last weekend I finished comparing my (old) huge list of Dutch EAN's versus other localities. The last locality I checked was the UK, obviously because it's the biggest list with the most errors. I came up with almost 1000 incorrect UK entries that I painstakingly checked against the Dutch profile. Sometimes the images on the wrong locality were better than the Dutch one!
I mailed Gerri the entire list, and hopefully she'll take action and delete them from the database. In the next few weeks, I'll monitor if any profile is re-entered because someone forgot to check their localities.
In the meantime, I've got a newer list that I need to check. That should go a lot faster, since a lot has been cleaned up already. |

| Posted: | | | | Hi all,
Does anybody know if any of the submitted lists where actioned for this task, as the figure does not seemed to have changed for the total number of DVD's fo the UK. I am also still seeing Danish profiles set as a UK profile. |

| Posted: | | | | Of the few I checked, they have been actioned. The way Ken did it was to hide the wrong profiles in the download lists, but they are still online (and it seems still in the count).
Not the way I would have done it, but hey...
Also, we haven't finished, so I expect there are plenty of bad profiles. I'm guessing that everyone else had cleanup burnout about the same time I did (which was about half way through H for me). I think that there are also some people continuing to add new bad profiles.

Don't understand? Maybe DVDProfilerWiki.org does! |

| Posted: | | | | Just a thought: Since these incorrect profiles seem to get hidden instead of deleted, it would probably be a good idea to remove cast and crew info before contributing them for deletion; this way, the cast and crew of these profiles won't be counted when using the Credit Lookup Tool, which will again improve this tool's accuracy. |

Is Ken still doing that? I already pointed out the problems with this approach three months ago in this same thread ( link). On one hand, we're told that the "credit lookup" tool results are to be our one and only source for determining common "names", and yet, this method of "hiding" profiles that should be deleted keeps influencing those results. Since a lot of these are ill-maintained profiles, often never updated since they were automatically ported over from Intervocative to Invelos, they often contain highly questionable data which should not not be allowed to influence the "credit lookup" tool results. I haven't recently tested whether this is still happening (I'd have to mark a profile for deletion, wait until it gets approved, and then check whether I can still find it in the "credit lookup" tool), but if it does, it's really something Ken should address a.s.a.p. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | Again, it would be a good idea to delete cast and crew for these profiles when submitting them for deletion, otherwise they will affect the credit lookup tool. Most of these incorrect locality profiles will have IMDB data in them, I suspect. |
