| Posted: | | | | Thanks for the reply goodguy. I think you must've entered it while I added the edit to my post. Got it all sorted. By the way, like others in this thread, I too am getting XML as the default when exporting the report. I wonder if it's another Vista quirk? Indeed, it seems to be. I also got a few PMs by Vista users who were confused with the initial report. Since I don't have Vista, I don't have an idea what the reason could be. So just make sure you change the report format to HTML Application (*.hta). | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | Is it possible that the recent changes in DVD Profiler are causing a problem with this plugin? After using the plugin to correct names, I regularly get "unable to update" red cross errors during later profile updates, needing a database repair. Due to the time lag between cause and effect, this remans difficult to prove, but I am becoming more and more certain of a connection. | | | Hans |

I have not yet found any problems with NameVariants and DVDProfiler 3.5. The crew enhancements are transparent to the plugin API, and NameVariants only the changes the name itself (and the Credited As name) and leaves the crew role as it is. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | I don't think the "new" crew has anything to do with this, it also happens for changes in the cast names. I will keep an eye on this, and try to be as specific as possible. Unfortunately this is not something that can easily be set up to experiment with.
Thanks for checking anyway. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | I just installed the plug in and try to run the tool. The report failed (3% completion - 10 seconds) with the message:
The parameter is incorrect. The error must likely occured in one of the following profiles: 8711875977183.30 Aladdin
Any idea of what the problem could be? (My collection is made of 2500 DVDs) It worked fine on another collection of 60 DVDs (Is it connected to the size of the collection?)
Thanks for any help you can provide me with |

Thanks for any help you can provide me with Most likely the reason is some kind of oddity in the XML generated by DVD Profiler. The number of profiles is not an issue; it just may take a while for large collections. Within DVD Profiler, export your collection to XML. Let NameVariants process the exported XML file rather than the Live Database. This will hopefully give you a more exact pointer to the location of the error. If you are unable to solve the problem, I can give you an email address via PM so you can send me the zipped (!) XML file for further research. | | | Matthias |

using live database no exclusion no alias MSXML 4.0 |

using live database no exclusion no alias MSXML 4.0 This indicates that no valid XML is available, which shouldn't happen even with an empty database. Assuming that the error occurs in the first step (loading database), I would simply suggest to try again after restarting DVD Profiler and Name Variants. If this doesn't help, use DVD Profiler's XML export function and then let Name Variants process the XML file instead of the live database. | | | Matthias |

I'll give it a spin this evening but I want to thank goodguy already (he really is a good guy ) for the work put into such a useful plugin! | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

| Posted: | | | | No, the creator of this plug-in no longer supports this site. So he took all his plug-ins down and asked those that have it not to distribute it to anyone else. Sorry. | | | Pete |

At present I do at least a monthly check, and flush out 25-50 cases every time. | | | Hans |
