As I said in the other thread today... I am sick of the ring around the rosie stuff here... I refuse to start arguing about this now. So this is my last statement on this as we both know what the final ruling was. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | @ surfeur51: I'm begging you: let it go. Please! Let's agree to never ever have this pointless back-and-forth again: we all know, you included, what the outcome is: E = e, and É is é, and so on. Nothing more, nothing less. You keep mistaking "real" name for "common" name, while those do not necessarily match. Yes, this guy's real and correct name is Luis Guzmán. His common name for DVD Profiler purposes is, however, Luis Guzman. End of story. Again, PLEASE let's not wade through this same old pointless routine for each and every common name-finding thread where some form of accent is involved?! | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | Surfeur, I understand your point of view and I agree - I would not want my "real" name incorrectly spelled.
But, as far as invelos is concerned, this issue is not going to change. It seems to me to be a waste of energy and time to continue to debate the issue.
So, please consider letting this slide. Thank you. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting T!M: Quote: Yes, this guy's real and correct name is Luis Guzmán. Have you read what I wrote ? I didn't speak of real name, I spoke of the rule when we have all caps on screen. E is e and É is é is not what is written in rules. We have normal contributors who follow rules and credit Guzmán, and some forum users, remembering an old debate between Gerri and Ken, who refuse to apply rules and credit Guzman. The result is non linking database. Who wants this ? | | | Images from movies |

Cleaner (4049834001889, locality: Germany) LUIS GUZMÀN -> Luis Guzmàn
I don't think this will get the most credited form with that accent.
Edit: the above credit is from the end credits of the movie. At movie beginning, it's a bit tricky to see, but there it is Luis Guzmán. (with the other accent) I'll take the spelling in the opening credits - keeps things simple. |

| Posted: | | | | And that gives us the winner: Luis Guzman. There are only 25 unique titles left, so Guzmán (or Guzmàn) can't catch up now. Thanks for all your help. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | I'm surprised the ones with accents are up to 9, I would've guessed 5 or less when we started. Big thanks for the poll, I had him wrong locally until this. I went to submit all of them to help clear up the db, but my Criterion Traffic has too many other cast and crew changes (from what's in db already with Luis' accent) that I can't prove, so it's no use to bother trying. I feel some of the changes I made to cast there is best to be local only, at least for now. |

Big thanks for the poll, I had him wrong locally until this. Ditto and ditto. Thanks to northbloke for starting the thread, and thanks to everyone who looked up his credits. I can finally get his credits sorted out and have 'em all linked together. I'll start submitting the changes to my profiles tonight or tomorrow! | | | The night is calling. | Posted: | | | | Also, I would think this guy is a big enough star at this point that his name would spelled right more times than not, or maybe he just doesn't care and/or no accent has become a stage name of sorts for him. It just seems unlikely he's been miscredited so much while commanding such respect. Web doesn't help, I could post links to make you think either way was right and wrong all at once! |

In most credits, he is credited LUIS GUZMAN which is the correct capitalized form of Luis Guzmán or Luis Guzman. I think that was what Surfeur was trying to say. | | | My Home Theater |
