Actually, Surfeur, what people have in their local is their own business (and theirs alone). There is a big difference in having something locally, and choosing to submit it.

The problem discussed here is not to submit uncredited, but to remove existing ones. And I agree with you that everybody may do what he wants in local, but please those who do something should not give lessons to others who do the same thing.

"Do what I say, not what I do".

The checkbox should only show when the existing profile had no uncredited and the newly contributed profile does.  Uncredited should only be stripped if the checkbox is shown to the user and left unchecked.

That should also include fresh new profiles with Uncredited cast, right?

Do I understand you correctly: if I uncheck this box, my contribution will not remove existing uncredited cast from the online profile?

Quite the opposite: I have just verified that if you DON'T check the box and submit, the contribution WILL remove any existing uncredited cast from the online profile.

So, we will soon have no uncredited cast at all in the database. Is this really what Invelos wants to achieve?

EDIT: I see this has been explained in the last few posts and hopefully corrected.

With the direction things are heading, it's time for Invelos to make "uncredited" a local option only.

I imagine this won't be a popular opinion... but what I would like to see is for Ken to just wipe the entire database clean of uncredited cast one time... and then let us only upload the uncredited cast that can be documented. At least then what uncredited cast we do get back we can say actually means something.

I'll go along with that. There is entirely too much IMDB uncredited, undocumented cast in our database.

I fully support this. OK it will wipe out those that have been documented but I think it's worth it.

Well, parsing of asian names is generally not documented... What about wipe the entire database clean of asian names... and those undocumented french names with é, è, ê, c or ç, why not clean also that...
In fact, I think with an empty online database, everybody will agree that 0=0.

I agree, I fully support the removal of all uncredited entries in the online database.

That's absolutely unacceptable.  I'm done with this program.

What a stupid change, just to placate the people who don't like uncredited cast.

Gard:

It has nothing to do with liking or not liking (uncredited) data, but it must be documented. If it is documented I won't argue with it.

Yeah, I don't even get that.  I love uncredited cast.  Been known to add a bunch myself over the years.  I just want some assurance that it's actually real and not some data scrape from 8 years ago.  Doesn't seem that unreasonable to me.

We had a movie recently that the entire cast and crew was copied over and Contributed as a NEW title, NO VOTES, with a slew of (uncredited) which got past the screeners and that is supposed to be a sacred cow...NOT!!!!!!!!!!! And they were removed.
