Anthony Dawson [?] as Ernst Blofeld (uncredited)

-or-

Eric Pohlman [?] as Ernst Blofeld (voice, uncredited)

Which i think would simply confuse things because only a part of the credit is Uncredited and it's in the middle of the standard cast.

This makes me prefer even more that the Uncredited be appended to the cast and leave the '?' alone.

Uncredited doesn't come into play here. They're credited as "?".

Actually it should be:

Anthony Dawson [?] as Ernst Blofeld
Eric Pohlman as Voice of Ernst Blofeld (voice)(uncredited)

Why?

My guess is that, since it is a single credit, it should apply to a single person.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.

A good point which, i think, supports separating them.  Because otherwise you have Uncredited information you can't mark uncredited.

The '?' is credited.

Dawson & Pohlmann are not credited.  They require documentation and the Uncredited check box.

Since all that can't be squeezed into a single credit (or two, one for each Uncredited) i think the on screen and Uncredited shouldn't be mixed at all.

I agree, there is ONE ? credited and NO ACTORS, Unicus. Which is why I use Dawson as ? (uncredited and the voice actor the same way, that way I have a diect cross-reference to the film credit and the actors are treated consistently with the FACT that they are both (uncredited), anything else to me is simply inserting fictitious data which does not appear on the screen.<shrugs> Like i said, before that is the way i handle it here and will not change that procedure, because even though I understand the other argument to me it is not a logical argument.

They're credited jointly as "?". They require documentation to prove that they are "?", but they're not uncredited.

I've seen twins credited as one name in a cast list. That's 2 people credited for one role using one name. Are we going to say that the individual twins are uncredited now?

It's really quite simple.

There is an on screen credit of  "Ernst Blofeld  ?"

We are required to enter the actual credits exactly as they appear, so we must enter actor name '?', rolename 'Ernst Blofeld' in the actual DVDP cast list.  We cannot use (uncredited) because, there is in actual fact such a credit listed in the film.

Leaving it like that would be EXACTLY AS CREDITED  in the film.  But we now have a "Credited As" function to consider.

Next we look at the '?', and ask ourselves, is this the most commonly credited form of the the actor who actually played this role.  The answer, obviously is "no".  The most commonly credited form of this actor's name is, in fact, "Anthony Dawson".  Therefore, we must enter the on screen credit as Common name 'Anthony Dawson', Credited As name as '?', and role as 'Ernst Blofeld'.

The second credit is based on research that was pointed out earlier.  If that research is correct, and Eric Pohlman did the voice for the character Ernst Blofeld, then this would have to be entered as (uncredited) because the actual film credits do not include any credit for 'the voice of Ernst Blofeld".  However, if it is legitimate and can be properly documented, then it can be added as (voice)(uncredited).

Only in your mind, James. I'll buy your statement when you show them to me On Screen and I don't mean the question mark, I mean show me Anthony Dawson, you can't because he is not credited.

How about you show us where Robin Williams is credited as Mime Class Instructor in Shakes the Clown, or how about you show us where Sandra Bullock is credited as Herself in Miss Congeniality 2 - surely you remember that one!

You are mixing specific types of credits with a credit which is totally non-specific. But...I will give that some thought.

But we do split other credits for two persons. Remember Roderick Jaynes which we split into Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. Therefore we could split "?" into body and voice as well.

I never said otherwise...that was just my guess as to what hal's reason was.  Hal has since explained his position further so my guess is now moot.

BUT we also cannot do (uncredited) in crew, Rho. So I think that is mixing apples and oranges.
