Quote: Are you for real? All I did was take his comment to it's logical conclusion. Uh...no. Every e-tailer, reviewer, print ad, DVD catalog program, release artwork, and slipcover etc that I've ever seen for HD DVD includes the banner. I cannot say the same for "the entire case" and I've not said that. I never suggested you did say that. All I did was take your comment to it's logical conclusion. So, how about an answer. Why not go all the way and scan the entire case? If you don't scan the entire case you have to manipulate the banner to have square corners. If the top of the case is part of the cover art, why isn't the rest of the cover? Why add just a portion of the top of the case that has to be manipulated to remove the shine in order to look right? Get over it. All I'm trying to do is see where people are on this issue so we can get it into the rules. That's not all you're trying to do. You stacked the deck with the wording of the poll options. That's not 'seeing where people are'. That's pushing them where you want them. I didn't stack the deck. If we are to add these "banners" which are taken from the case or some download somewhere, we need to write a rule for it. If we are to scan the entire case, we need to write a rule for it. Otherwise, a mild clarification might need to be added and nothing more. Either way, the issue needs to be settled and a rule added to cover this issue. | | | Dan |

Why did you vote?
Because, even though I don't presently own BD or HD titles, it doesn't mean that I don't plan to in the near future. What is decided here will affect what and how I will contribute scans to the database and I have every right to express my opinion in a public poll. Good points. But it does burn a little to have people who don't own these to now tell the rest of us that our work over the last year or so has to be changed. Who is telling you how to do anything? A poll was initiated, I voted according to the poll options/my feelings on the subject. Don't get peeved at me...get peeved at Dan W...he started it | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

Only if you choose to. I agree, Hal!!! We have said no such thing. It's like any other thing in the db. Once the rule is added, the changes get made as they come. Nobody is being told any of their work has to be redone. All the rule tells us is that anything to be contributed must conform to the rules. If you don't feel like adding a scan then don't. Nobody is required to contribute a complete audit every time the submit something. | | | Dan | | | Last edited: by Dan W |

The top part serves to differentiate the scan at a glance from a regular DVD. I find it helpful in the My Profiler online and in the PDA version. I even prefer it over the HD DVD logo in the progam. It's quick. I see it and I instantly know what it is. It's what I see when I have it in my hand. I find no value in the edges of the case. But just because I don't find value in the edge of the case doesn't mean I logically have to give up the very informative banner portion of what I consider part of the overall front cover. It's not an all-or-nothing situation. Quoting m.cellophane: Quote: I didn't stack the deck. Either way, the issue needs to be settled and a rule added to cover this issue. You called it a violation of the current rules, which I dispute. The rules don't mention this, as I said before. A clarification would be nice to eliminate ambiguity, but calling it a violation of the rules in the poll option itself is clearly stacking the deck. Either way, the issue needs to be settled and a rule added to cover this issue. I can see where it looks like the deck is stacked in favor of a specific result. The addition of, "Even though it's a violation of the current rules, add the banners," will make some people vote 'no' even if they don't agree. It is, after all, a rule violation so why would they vote for it? NOTE: I am not saying it was intentional, but it could skew the results. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Be a good lad and scan only the paper part and add the HD-DVD banner. I even made nice ones for everyone to use. |
