Quote: Wouldn't filling in the corners be tantamount to inventing data? Leaving the corners as is is also inventing data, since those pixels in the corner are not from the cover but from the background of the scanner which is usually whitish. If you put a black background behind the cover while scanning, those corners will be black. BTW using a black background for scanning is sometimes useful if otherwise the back side of the cover would be seen through the paper.
I usually prefer filled in corners. But I would not want to make them mandatory for other users. I fill them in with the cloning (stamp) tool in Photoshop which allows for blending them in to what already exists and I am sure was in the original square photograph. I know, I just opened up the lid for the purists in the crowd, but that's OK, I'm just conveying how I fill them in...for what it's worth. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

Of course I would use the clone tool as well (albeit in GIMP a free alternative to Photoshop). I would never fill them in with black colour. |

| Posted: | | | | For all the things listed here I quit contributing scans. If Invelos ever ups the DPI I may then... I would vote to fill in the corners myself. But why vote if I don't contribute them anymore. |

| Posted: | | | | Round or square corners, it doesn't matter to me. I scans them as I see them. The quality is what I ultimately consider. (Comparing the submitted scan to what I have in hand.) Rory | | | DVD Profiler for iOS as of 3/5/2013 DVD Profiler for Android as of 5/17/2013 |

I was thinking of mentioning PSD format, but forgot about PNG supporting transparency. So, no kidding, being able to support PNG is a great idea. | | | Mr Video Productions If it isn't Unix, it isn't an OS :-) |

I was thinking of mentioning PSD format, but forgot about PNG supporting transparency. So, no kidding, being able to support PNG is a great idea. I agree. Why kid? I'd love to see transparency supported. Not just for little things like this, but for all those odd-shaped boxes. |
