We don't fix typos in overviews or credits either. Same thing.
It seems clear to me that anything pertaining to the DVD is to represent it exactly as the DVD is. Not to alter it to our personal perferences.
The rules about covers state the following. "The covers must match the profile exactly, including the UPC and locality."
That seems logical to me too.
To me that means that scans must be exact copies of the DVD coverart and if that includes rounded corners than that is how the coverart is and that the scans must match that exactly.
To alter the rounded corners to square corners is an alteration and does not match the cover exactly and is therefore not allowed. |

Quote: If a cover has rounded corners, then a scan with rounded corners is a more accurate representation of the cover. And it looks like crap. That is a personal opinion. Why is it every other part of the DVD has to match exactly, when possible, but scans do not. Seems like an odd stance to me. He's right (IMHO), and the number of "rounded corners" that are "fixed" in the db is... pretty large. | | | Erik

| Posted: | | | | I'm submitting a new cover for the Blu-Ray version of Happy Feet and it has rounded corners. However, with the current preference among users to add the Blu-Ray banner, it forces me to remove at least the top corner lest it looking, well, stupid. |

| Posted: | | | | I'll say it again: retailers do not have rounded corners on their scans. And when you are normally looking at real DVDs, they are inside a plastic case. Taking them out of the plastic sleeve to scan is also not an accurate representation of what they really look like either. | | | Last edited: by Doombear |

| Posted: | | | | I'm truly sorry to have started this "mess" but i only wanted to follow rules. As it stands, there are no official rules but appears that the powers that be should set some.
Maybe, I'll start a poll and see where it goes.
Skip, your assumption is incorrect. I can scan with the best of them. I've got Photoshop and several scanner, and can use them quite well. It just that I tend to use DVDP for scanning and it frankly doesn't offer much in the way of editing. Cropping yes, but I prefer not to.
Lastly, Skip I as well as many others appreciate all the work you do to help make the database better, we appreciate all the work everyone does.

Don't give me the "I'll say this one time" crap, Skip. You have repeated this "superior" attitude over and over not only directed at me but to just about everyone who has the audacity to disagree with you on this forum or who has the audacity to vote "no" on your contributions.
I'll let my contribution stats speak for themselves, Mr. Blowhard! Hal: Your Contribution stats here are meaningless as are mine at this time, since we both were automated initially. You don't get it and I don't expect you ever will, nor does it make any difference whether you do or not...thankfully. I specifically said that i was not trying to be argumentative or brag here, hal and i am not and your response was your typical aggressive and insulting nature, which you display far too much, sir Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!!
