Just submitting an updated profile should be enough.
Unfortunately the way the contribution system seems to work, changes can only be made on a profile-level basis so every single profile that has the BY in it have to be submitted separately, but at the very least an accepted change should mean the BY is removed from the list of "accepted" BYs so people will have to justify its addition to any new profiles.

Don Davis BY is to distinguish the composer from the actor present in database for example in Bull Durham (EAN 8017229428418).

Don Davis (born February 4, 1957) is an American film score composer, conductor, and orchestrator. Best known for his work on The Matrix, he has worked on a variety of films, from horror to comedy.

I actually believe this is an IMDb-error, and that the three alledged credits for this "Don Davis" actually all belong to Don S. Davis. For at least two of these three credits, there are multiple sources that confirm my suspicion. I'll give some examples:

- TV.com for the 'Amazing Stories' credit: http://www.tv.com/amazing-stories/fine-tuning/episode/69845/summary.html?tag=ep_guide;summary

- Fandango.com for the 'Bull Durham' credit: http://www.fandango.com/dons.davis/filmography/p86888

I couldn't find any such references for 'The Girl Who Spelled Freedom', but that one isn't even in the database, so it doesn't matter. Maybe someone can watch 'Bull Durham' and that 'Amazing Stories'-episode to visually confirm whether that's actually Don S. Davis. If it is, then as of yet, there's no need to attach a birth year to the composer.

Are you supposed to open a ticket in order to get an unneeded BY removed, or just submit an updated profile (with explanation in the notes, of course) ?

For getting it removed from a profile, a simple contribution is enough. To get an incorrect and/or unneeded birth year actually removed from Invelos's "accepted"-list, that doesn't help. Only Invelos can remove them from the "accepted"-list, so that a checkbox will appear if someone tries to re-add it. I've had success with support tickets in this regard, where I explained/documented why a certain birth year was incorrect/unneeded, and they then took it off the list.

Thanks T!M, I already suspected something like that...

Some Kind of Hero

Approved May 6,2010

I am very much convinced this one is incorrect. I've tried to do some research, and it seems to me like the second Nan Martin is just an IMDb-error. Of those two credits for an alledged second "Nan Martin", only one is in the database: 'Some Kind of Hero'. And for that one, even one of your own sources (http://www.filmreference.com/film/96/Nan-Martin.html) attributes this to the first Nan Martin. I can easily supply some more sources attributing 'Some Kind of Hero' to the 1927-born Nan Martin:

- http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/individual/138862?view=credit

With your own filmreference.com, we've got three pretty reputable sources attributing this lone credit to one and the same Nan Martin, against only IMDb claiming there's a separate actress in play. I don't buy it, which leaves us with only one Nan Martin in the database, and no need for a birth year.

After doing some further research it does in fact look like there is only one Nan Martin and that includes some obits that mention Some Kind of Hero attached to the 1927 one.

So I guess I was wrong on this one.

Sorry about that.

In Bull Durham I see Don Davis as Scared Butter.

In the credits, yes, I never doubted that for a moment, but I was asking: who do you see in the film? Is the actor you see on the screen actually Don S. Davis or not? The question I'm trying to ask is whether this is "Don S. Davis, credited as Don Davis", or whether this is an entirely different actor named Don Davis. So I wasn't looking for the credit, I was looking for someone who just watched the film and maybe recognized the "Scared Butter" as being Don S. Davis.

I can confirm, after watching this movie, that none of the batters ("Scared" or otherwise), looked like Don S. Davis.

Eric
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!
