| Posted: | | | | So if the capitalization is going to be automatically changed to lower case upon upload to the online database. Why is the issue even up for debate then.
I suppose hal was just out to prove the inherent flaws within the online system and for that he deservers credit. |

| Posted: | | | | The contribution system automatically changes the first letter of each part of the name to a capital letter, so when you try to enter "berry" as the last name, the system automatically capitalizes it to "Berry".
Some people apparently think that triggers a need for using the "Credited As" field which was contributed as "Jadagrace berry".
My first point was that using the "Credited As" field for this was a waste of time, since, as TheMartian has pointed out "Jadagrace Berry", "Jadagrace berry" and "JADAGRACE berry" are all the SAME name, therefore, we do not have a case "where the person's name differs from the credited name" as the Rules require for using the "Credited As" field.
HOWEVER, if one were to insist that a difference in capitalization does constitute a different name, then why only correct the "b" in "berry" but not the "ADAGRACE" in "JADAGRACE". "Jadagrace berry" does not match the onscreen credit; "JADAGRACE berry" does. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

So the solution is when uploaded for the data that is in the field to remind as it was imputed than wrongly corrected automatically as it could and in this case cause inaccuracy when cross referenced to the credits. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

| Posted: | | | | Her own website hereClearly shows she calls herself Jadagrace Berry. IMO it should therefore be Jadagrace Berry, credited as JADAGRACE berry (if system does not automatically change it to Berry?) Sorry if this has already been stated, I gave up trawling through the many pointless and repetitive posts on this thread | | | |

Sounds good to me Hal - are you happy with that solution? That would be my second choice. My first choice would be to enter her as "Jadagrace Berry" with no "Credited As" entry at all. I don't believe in using the "Credited As" feature for differences in capitalization. It is not a different name as far as I'm concerned. | | | Hal |

That is my choice as well...and I hope to get the rules to reflect that choice. Much cleaner if we just enter everything using standard capitalization rules. If I recall correctly, the entire cast is completely capitalized other than the name in question which has the last name all in lower case. I agree with Martian and Hal. Credited As feature should only be used if the name differs from the Most Credited name, not just due to Capitalization inconsistencies. | | | "The perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire |

Sounds good to me Hal - are you happy with that solution? Nio that is hal's innterpretation with no evidence yo support it, since JADAGRACE, looks exactly the same as CHRISTIAN BALE or any of the remainder of the cast data, we can only follow the Rules for standard caps on JADAGRACE and it is Jadageace. I know how much Hal likes to create his own interpretations BUT... Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here
