For now, I've reinstated the policy of restricting edits based on post age and set it to 30 days. If that prevents any useful edits, send me a PM and I'll enable for specific posts. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | Ken, the current restriction means that if someone started a thread more than 48 hours ago, they can't edit even their most recent post in that thread. Posts in threads started by other people can still be edited. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

Something did happen. He updated a profile per new features and rules, and did it by the books, as has been done countless times in the past, then he was downvoted and jumped on by a majority of the users here for doing it. I can see his point. If contributions can no longer be made according to the rules, of what purpose is there in contributing to the site, database, and community?
In my opinion the big problem on this site is severe lack of moderation. There are so many issues and questions posted to the forums that could be easily solved by a single and simple reply from Ken or other people he appoints as moderators, as well as timely updates to the contribution rules themselves. Instead, threads go on for pages and pages of pointless bickering and insults, with SOME users having free reign to troll, insult, and belittle others to their heart's content, without any fear of reprisal from a moderation team or from the site owner himself.
If this changed, DVD Profiler would easily be two or three times the program that it currently is. Brilliant. Green arrow for you. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

| Posted: | | | | I too would hate to see him leave, but if it really is him, then it's kind of childish (and a waste of time) to go back and delete all those posts, lol. Wouldn't a single thread in the general forum saying good bye suffice?
Just wanted to add that I too have appreciate his help, I just don't understand deleting all those posts... | | | Last edited: by The Movieman |

| Posted: | | | | IMHO a user should have the ability to delete hes/her posts.
Ive seen occasions (on other forums) where a person has gained a sort of reputation where other internet users start searching stuff from the user using google and other methods. So the user has come back to delete all hes/her posts, this system seriously restricts ones ability to stay anonymous. | | | Last edited: by whispering |

Brilliant. Green arrow for you. And from me as well. While I did not always agree with his opinion/contributions (understatement), I do think this wasn't all his fault. Invelos really should shed more light into the rules darkness more often. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

Yes, it is quite unfortunate for reference threads, plugin and other tool threads, etc. that want to keep updated information in the first post. But I meant my agreement in a more general way. If a user like GigaWizard chooses to remove his posts, he should be able to do so. It doesn't matter if we deem this justified or not, it should ultimately be his decision. | | | Matthias |
