Thank you all.

You have shown me the light, and I appreciate it.  I now have a free tool, one that is better, lighter, and has none of the advertisement banners.

For those that actually care, I have been a huge proponent to DVDProfiler in the past, and have I have lead dozens of other users to this door.  To my knowledge, most of them have become registered users.

It isn't the $30 that pisses me off, it is the 'surprise' affect that I got when I learned that the tool I had used for years is now something that I cannot use any longer.  If I had been politely notified by some notice in the program, I would have definitely ponied the $30.... who wouldn't.  I'm not saying that it isn't a good program, but it by far isn't the best out there.

to that end, thank you for your hard work, and I hope the original developers got their money's worth when they sold out.  I would have loved to give you my $30... but it ain't going to the new landlords.

Again, Thank you.

FYI, there are no new landlords.  I originally developed DVD Profiler, supported it at InterVocative, and continue to do so at Invelos.

As Ken noted he is the original landlord and developer of the program so...now what's your excuse. He simply bought out his partners and unfurled a new flag.

What 'surprise affect'?  This happened more than a month ago.  Have you been living in a cave or something?
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I love unqualified statements! Go on then, tell us the alternatives. "By far" suggests Profiler is mediocre at best, so you must have a long list of hidden gems of course. By my reckoning, and that of many users here, Profiler is the best of its kind and has been for some time.

However that Ken fellow is getting a bit complacent; he hasn't updated the program for about a week. I think he needs some healthy competition to prove his commitment, so that list would be handy.

Seems like it's about the $$. Trying to hide behind the "I should have had a notice sent to me, the free users, rather than the users who PAID for the program....."

But it's not about the money.

Well good luck

It's really sad to read such comments as this freebie has come with. Yeah, I was a freebie too. Until 3.0 came out. Before that I thought DVDProfiler was dead. I liked 2.4, but I love 3.0. So I payed the $30 and haven't regretted it. I will even pay more for future updates.

I bought the full registered version way back in 2001 with Intervocative, and transitioned over to Invelos without problems.

Since I've never been a "free" user, help me understand...

What exactly has been lost in the transition from the "free" version of DVD Profiler on the Intervocative side to the "free" version of DVD Profiler on the Invelos side?

Under Intervocative free was: smaller coverscans and limited size for online-list.
(But the limit was rather high and not fixed to a number of DVDs but size. So the less information you had locked, the less you could upload.)
Otherwise the free was fully functional.

With 3.x the free version pretty much breaks down if you have more than 50 titles. But that ist totally OK in my opinion, you can extensively test with 50 titles and if you like the product, cough the few bucks up.

It's really only annoying freeloaders like the threadstarter who are making a fuss about it.

I started using the free version of profiler years ago.  Once I got a few hundred DVD's I simply couln't continue using such an excellent program without paying for it (even though a free version was offered).  After all it's really just a bit more than a single DVD.  There are so many programs out there that aren't worthe half of what they sell for and here is one that's worth twice the price!
