As a user who uses tabbed browing extensively, the following always happens when giving postive or negative votes: After submit it redirects to the thread which was opened last and not to the thread were the message you voted on is.
When I browse forums, I always open all relevant threads in tabs first (via middle-mouse click), so this is not a rare case that this will happen to me. Ken explained this behavior on the previous page. Basically it returns to the last votable page you visited.
