I am not sure why this is even an issue. This was resolved for HBC long ago. And for the record it was I who documented the data resolving it, by finding three movies which "consecutively" filmed, or at least different years. With, in this order HB-C, HBC and H/B-C, wjile it is possible that she could have changed her name to HBC and even moved the B to middle name status, it is hifghly unlikely that she would she would change her parsing back and forth therefore the HBC was H//BC., thus it HAS been and rthus it shall be unless something comes up to change it in the way of documentation.

The issue has been solved long ago, and a derailment of the thread is looming ever closer.

Just for the record, most if not all sites on the web list her last name as 'Bonham Carter'.

All of the DVDs that I own if they highlight last names in the credits (all caps) show a double last name for her.

This one was just not that hard.

Oh, noes! Our thread has derailed!

I had a couple of comments though.

Going back to the OP:

Auditing Terminator Salvation and as i enter Helena there are two choises in my base.
Helena/Bonham/Carter and Helena/Bonham Carter.  What's the correct parsing here? I have 8 titles with H/B/C and 3 with H/BC. As a drummer I know of John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, and Bonham is his last name, and therefore I believe that Helena has two last names Bonham Carter, and the parsing will be H/BC. is this correct?

The basics of name parsing are that if this is a new profile, make your best determination of how it should be parsed and contribute it. You don't have to prove parsing issues in a new contribution. If someone wants to change it later, they'll have to prove the need for the change.

If there is an existing profile in the main database, do a preview comparison between your profile and the existing profile. If there is a difference in parsing between the online name and your local name, you will need documentation to change the online name. If you don't have that documentation, change your local version to match the online version so that you can contribute your other changes.

In the Credit Lookup Tool, you will find most with H//BC. Difficult to count exactly with 176 titles and 912 profiles.

The Credit Lookup Tool makes no distinction between H//BC and H/B/C. The only way that I know of to count parsing variants is through goodguy's Credit Lookup Plus.

Well, you can do it by hand...clicking on every title in the CLT results and tallying the results, though, as Staid points out, with 176 titles and 912 profiles, it is a bit tedious.

I think I would sooner throw the DVD into the trash than to manually count the parsing of 912 titles.  But thanks, I didn't know that.

Sorry to say the Link no longer works. I think you'll find Mathias kept to his threat to withdraw over some of the issues here.
