The first word goes in the fist field.
The last wod goes in the last field
Everything else goes in the middle field.

Job done.

Perhaps we just need the name field renamed so it says 1st word, last word, etc

As a US user, here are the ways in which my married female friends parse their own names:

- maiden name used as middle name
- maiden name combined with married name to form new last name
- maiden name dropped all together

Over here it's all individual, it's all about how you want to do it.  However, most of the married women I know personally who chose to keep their maiden names use them in combination to form a new last name.  I only know one who uses it as a middle name.

Without documentation that she uses Guerard as a middle name, I would parse her as Aggie // Guerard Rodgers

Without documentation i'd parse it the other way, A/G/R.

Wouldn't the fact that her web address ignores the Guerard be documentation she doesn't use it as part of her last name?

Nothing can be assumed about her married name because none of these words are her husband's last name.

Anyone ever wonder if these people sometimes Google themselves, find these little debates and laugh?

As a US user as well, I have to say that these discussions here are the first time I ever heard of dropping the middle name and using the maiden name as a middle name or making the maiden name as a second middle name. the ways I'm familiar with is:

1) drop maiden name and take husbands name as new last name
2) add the husbands name to the end of the maiden name forming a new last name (usually hyphenated)
3) keep your name as is

As far as this case, with no other info I'd have to say A/G/R. If the supplied info is correct that Guerard is her maiden name and Rodgers is her husbands last name then i'd say with proper documentation (multiple sources would be nice) A//G R

With that documentation, yes, I would agree with using Guerard as the middle name, since that is her website and therefore is how she is representing herself.

It's Helena Bonham Carter all over again....

No, I don't think so. Bonham Carter is an English actress while Guerard Rodgers is US American. As explained in previous posts by our fellow US American users, in the US your maiden name becomes your middlename if you decide to keep it after marriage. --> Aggie/Guerard/Rodgers.

Yeah, it's a bit different: Helena was born a Bonham Carter, Aggie was born a Guerard and became Guerard Rodgers.
As for whether it's A/G/R or A//G R - I'm keeping out of it!

There's a "Contact" button on her website.  Why not just ask her, "Do you consider your last name to be "Rodgers" or "Guerard Rodgers"?"

I'll do it if no one else has.

I also have been a long time supporter of going to a single name field... that would get rid of any and all Parsing problems.

Same here or just have the program handle linking on all fields so all entries of Aggie//Guerard Rodgers and Aggie/Guerard/Rodgers are treated the same as far as profile linking is concerned.

but I say that because of that marriage her middle name changed to Guerard just like this website says. What do you think?

That website does not say that she changed her middle name to 'Guerard'.  All it says is that she dropped her middle name.  But, if you read the entire page, you will find a credit that sheds some light on this issue.

At the bottom of the page it lists one of her credits as 'Agnes Ann Guerard Rodgers'.  We know that 'Ann' is here middle name, as she was born 'Agnes Ann Guerard', so 'Guerard Rodgers' would be her last name.

Not necessarily, she may have kept her original middle name & added Guerard as another one. I'm not saying that is the case but it's just one of several possibilities.

It would be a possibility I had never heard of...at least not here in the states.

This is very true... I know of someone here in the states that did just this... made it so they have 2 middle names... one her original middle name and a second middle name being her maiden name. As I have said... there really is no rules on how to have your name.

Which is why for parsing I still believe it should be a single name field. I am more then willing to give up the ability to sort/display Last Name, Fist Middle to put an end to all parsing problems we have.

@ Skip & Addicted

Thanks guys.  Just goes to show you're never to old to learn something new.

As to the case at hand, this is going to be a tough nut to crack.  It seems like she has use quite a few variations of her name...

Aggie Guerard Rodgers
Agnes Ann Rodgers
Agnes Rodgers
Aggie Rodgers
Agnes Ann Guerard Rodgers
