I only noticed just now that they aren't in the online database. But I am not willing to remove my "localized" cast and crew, contribute and then re-add that stuff just to don't break the rules.
I can't even check/see what I'm contributing. I actually don't see it as a huge deal. I, too, have localized cast for some of my DVDs. When I contribute them, I copy my localized cast into notepad, remove the parts that do not follow the rules, and contribute. Once I am done, I paste my localized cast back into the profile. I know that this isn't something everyone will want to do but, for me, it isn't that difficult. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | It's not just cast, it's also crew and titles. For example I use localized titles for all my DVDs, no matter where I bought them. So I have to change these, too. And the sort title (coz that's localized, too).
But before I even do that I have to attempt a contribution to find out whether or not a profile does already exist with that ID and locality. Then to cancel it and then to make above mentioned changes.
I am a lazy guy. I am willing to contribute my profiles to the the DB so that others can have them too. But I am also unwilling to put any unnecessary effort into it.
PS: And even if I removed all that "illegal" stuff, I might as well have forgotten/overlooked something. But I don't have a means of checking my contribution. And if it is declined because of that I surely won't do it all over again. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | The sort title is never contributed.
Also, if you change the UPC/EAN and locality to something that already exists in the database, the program should inform you of this immediately.

How about you open a new database, create new profiles for the child profiles but only add the minimum required data for submission. Once they're accepted you can submit your full profiles from your original database and pick and choose your data. Sounds like a bit of a funny way of doing it, but might be quicker than replacing all those cast lists. PS I'm only suggesting this as a temporary workaround - I'm still in full agreement with the original suggestion. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

I will mirror my database, dump cast&crew, change the titles to the way they are supposed to be for contribution and contribute. That way I prevent that entire "undo"ing part. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Quoting DJ Doena: Quote: I know it has been asked before, but I'd like to bring it up again. It would be great if one could decide what to contribute even if it is a first contribution. I use cast lists that strongly violate Invelos's rules. But it's cumbersome to remove this list, contribute and then add it again just to avoid contribution. *Bump* Since there was some recent discussion about server-side implementation changes to the contribution system with input from Ken Cole himself, I would like to redirect any potential free development time to a IMHO more worthier issue. | | | Matthias |
