Well, although anecdotal rather than statistical, the replies above do tend to back up my underlying business assumption on the buying motivation created by DVDP.  I didn't mention my own numbers in the OP, but from a start of about 150 DVDs over many years up to last December, I have now almost doubled that number in just three months, and definitely this has been motivated in part by DVDP and the pleasure of seeing my collection displayed in all its glory on my customised widescreen layout.    My purchasing numbers are also perhaps more typical of the "casually obsessed" collector, as opposed to the "terminally obsessed" with collections in the thousands, but I dips me lid to you uber-collectors.

Good point made above about Amazon perhaps not being best starting point due to alignment with IMDB.  Although on the other hand Invelos seems to be a very "well behaved" player from IMDBs point of view, and so probably wouldn't be any significant concern to them.

LOL, I probably shouldn't admit this but my wife doesn't read the Forums so...

Coincidence or Ken's fault...you decide.

I began collecting DVDs in 1997 and to 2000 had less than 600 invested. Ran into Profiler in the Spring of 2000 and since  that time have averaged $5000 per year.

I report you decide.

Skip, it is so nice to hear that I am not the only one that lives with a healthy respect for their wife. Now I am not a coward, but I find the best way to bring in new DVD's/Blu-rays is to do my purchases when she is at work. If she is home, I simply leave them in the garage until she is otherwise distracted.

We do have a new question in the house though. "So how many blu-ray discs do you have now?"

I never should have put them on their own shelves... If she sees them, I am a dead man!

I know we may be going off topic, but I too would like to add my name to any class action suit against DVDP! It all started with the original release of Fargo! Then MS Access... Then I came to find DVDP, which I purchased immediately. Then it was the little barcode scanner... Then the insatiable need for more in my catalogue. More shelving... MORE MORE MORE... clearly the fault of Ken! I offer into evidence the pictures below. I apologise for the mess, "we" are redecorating...

DVD's to the left

DVD's to the right

making the cabinets - 300.00
buying the DVD's (not telling - my wife could find this thread)
having more DVD's (all purchased legally) than your brother-in-law - PRICELESS!!!

Well, the mess is on the floor (and the walls are being patched...) I just felt it would be inappropriate to know there is a mess in the room and not confess to it!

Watch out for the men in the white coats, although the accomodations here in our little asylum are quite nice. And don't mention the Pookas.

OH!  I see it now - I was assuming that they were resting on the floor.

It's (hopefully) not too late to mix them in!  At least make her work for it if you're going to suffer.
