I am surprised and frustrated that my question was so hard to understand. So let me try once more to be absolutely clear.

First of all: I know the rules and I do not in any way suggest that the rules should not be followed!

My program lets the user perform basic editing tasks of the overview; highlight and correct spelling mistakes, add text, remove text, set bold and italic. It does not have any advanced function such as search and replace (and I don't think it needs them). But there are two types of replacements that I have often seen in contributions; double spaces into single space, and simple dash into en dash or em dash.

My ambition is to make those simpler. In the current implementation there is a dash to en dash function. So if you find that the overview in the profile has dashes that needs to be replaced, you have three options:
- If they all need to be changed to en dashes, just use a menu click to change them.
- If they all need to be changed to em dashes, do it manually.
- If there is a mix, you either change them manually, or use the menu function to change them all to en dashes and then correct those that needs to be em dashes. Whichever seems the simplest.

I did not want to implement two functions (one for en dashes and one for em dashes), so I wanted to make sure that the one I chose was the one that was most helpful, i.e. the kind of dash that is in fact more often used than the other. My impression was (and is) that en dash is the more common, but I wanted confirmation on that.

And, given the amount of time I spend supporting the community with tools and contributions, I find the rolling eyes emoji offensive!
