Not really.

The exclusive clubs begin in regions of 12.000 +
With a count between 1000 and 5000 you are in the region where most of us are.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Just realized I crossed over a bit ago, I have 1018 in my "owned" but there are 30 ish that are in the collection I don't have counted.

The sick part is I increased my collection by almost a 1/3 this year

First post  My husband and I have no TV, so we do all our watching on the Internet, DVD and Bluray. We've got 1102 DVD's now, though I am slightly confused at the actual number. It seems that some series add every individual DVD as a separate entry, while others bundle together 5 or 6 movies into one. I don't know enough yet to sort all that out

Still, the count on DVD Profiler says "1102" so that makes us an official member of this club

Sophia - Wow that is a killer way to jump in :D

There are a few ways to deal with Parent/Child profiles and TV Series w/ child profiles for the discs.

What I do for a title say a movie with lets say 4 movies. You have it broken down as follows

4 Film Fan Favorites : Jim Carrey (Parent)
-----Mask (Child)
-----The Majestic (child)
-----Yes Man (child)
-----Dumb & Dumber

Now the way *I* do it is the Parent in this case is set to Count as 0 ( personalize menu ) with no collection number. Each of the Child profiles in this one gets a collection number and gets counted as 1

with TV series I do it the other way with the parent getting a collection number and the child profiles counting as 0 w/o a collection number.

As they are discs from a single title, I also don't count bonus discs

I am in the same boat as you all, nothing but DVD's / BluRays and a little OTA TV no cable TV here.

Enjoy and welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome I didn't mean to hijack this thread, but I do realize there is a lot to learn still. I absolutely love DVD Profiler. I bought Movie Collector at well, rather impulsively, but asked (and got) a refund because the program was not "us" after all. DVD Profiler is everything we ever wanted.

I did however use Collectorz' Android app "Barry" to scan the barcodes of our movies, which works like magic. It took me 3 days to scan our entire collection, only had to manually add 5 or 6% of "unknowns".

Anyway I do have some questions still, but I won't use this thread for those - and I still have a learning curve to go through so I'll probably have to do some homework first

I'm out again

Culled a significant part of my collection (50+), so my current count is 999 (until 02/02).

Is this counting disc's, profiles, movie countes or what

Because by disc's and profiles I am over 1000

However how I organize DVDP is the collection number is set to "None" on child profiles so the collection number points ot basically the SKU count.

I also use "Count As" to not count parent profiles that do not reflect a movie.  I also set "Count As" to zero on DVD child profiles on BD/DVD combo discs.  So just counting different movies.  Also using "Count As" I count a TV season as 1.

If it is counting profiles/disc's I have over 1189
Counting the collection numbers (SKU) I have 655
Counting mobies/tv seasons (and not discs) I have 807

Pros count everything. So one TV Series Season counts at least as 7 with the 6 disc level profiles. As well as one Box Set with three movies counts as 5 at least if you are lucky and there is an additional bonus disc. Inevitable B-rD+DVD combos of one movie count as three at least. And don't you forget to count your Manual DVDs and vapour Wish List profiles.

Now that's what I would consider cheating.

My count:
TV-Shows: 1 per Season package
Movie boxsets: 1 per included movie (except if only different cuts of the same movie), not counting the package)
Multi-Feature Discs ( 2 or more features on one DiscID): 1

It all really depends on what you are counting.  If you are counting discs he is correct, but movies no.

However if you have mutiple movies on the same disc and they are sparate you should count them as such IMO

And then there will be some that do and do not believe that different cuts of the same movies are different....

current count 1004

So I'm in, despite the 20 rotten Warner HD-DVD's, which I discovered in my collection recently.

How I count is close to that.  I basically count films and seasons

TV-Shows: 1 per Season package
Movie boxsets: 1 per included movie (except if only different cuts of the same movie), not counting the package)
Multi-Feature Discs ( 2 or more features on one DiscID): 1 for each distinct film (that is not a different cut)
BD/DVD Combo's: I basically do not count the DVD since it is the same film but just on a different media type in the same UPC

I do count films of different cuts if they are in different UPC's.  For example I have the "Dances with Wolves " Blu-ray that was released in the UK which is the theatrical version and I also have the extended version blu-ray which sold in the US.  But since they are two separate UPC's I do count them as 1 each.

I am sitting at 938 now by that method of counting and 1301 by counting profiles. Based on my Owned collection only

For me it's a bit difficult to break it down to one specific number.

Currently I have 1224 purchased items that range from TV pilot episodes over movies to complete series sets.

I have 948 watchable movies (i.e. not counting box set profiles)
I have 2135 watchable series discs (i.e. not counting seasons or complete box sets) spread over 430 seasons.
I have 29 watchable special interest discs (concerts, documentations, ...)

So, in essence I have 1224 purchase items, 3112 watchable discs and 3628 profiles in total.
