I would like to have the following feature:

move the "Wendecover" from "other features" to "features" (one click button checkbox).

I am not really against this, but it would be for one locality only, and just create confusion for the others. Even the ugly mix-word Wendecover (part German, part English) has no meaning outside Germany.

If we get additional button checkboxes, there are some others that may have a higher priority for many users, e.g. B/W

I agree. I think it's enough to list it under "other features".

Since a fairly recent change in German law, all German DVD releases have to carry a big, ugly rating sign printed on the cover. Many German media companies have since then introduced the practice of printing the exact same cover, but without the ugly rating sign, on the inside of the DVD sleeve, so you can turn it inside out and avoid the ugly rating. That's a "Wendecover" (literal translation: turning cover).

Until two years ago the german rating symbol was on the back of the cover and relatively small. Then "for the protection of the youth" the law was changed and now a huge FSK rating symbol has to be on the front cover (1.38 inch * 1.38 inch).

So for amaray covers some distributors print the same cover on both sides of the cover but the inside has no rating on it, thus making it prettier.

No, it should not even be an "Other Feature". And should definitely not be used for Cover Scans. Me myself never looks at the inside of the cover, let alone turning it around, losing the UPC.

Some people feel the need to add a two-sided leaflet as "other feature". I wouldn't add the Wendecover as feature either but I use it when I have the chance. It's one of the first things I do after opening the DVD/BR.

And many Wendecovers have the UPC on both sides. Their only difference is the ratings logo.

I think this is the problem, why it wouldn't get the chance to get added. (Even if the field rating details also is absolutely useless for some localities  )

It would be interesting if the availability/showing of some fields could/would be influenced by the locality of the DVD. (showing for Germany, Austria but not for USA, France, ...)
Edit: If this would be possible it gets a big yes from me, to have the limited space of the other features field for other things.

Thanks Karsten and DeeJay, I didn't know either what it was about. We have reversible cover also but with different cover art, so it isn't only a German thing Hans. I enter them in the other features section (who is too short btw), but I don't see a problem with the fact to add a checking option (it is certainly more usefull than the slip cover one) and that sound kind of usefull for the Germans to know that.

Maybe the same people who disclaim that the german dub is not lossless.

And as many Covers do not have the UPC on the inside. So they scan the inside of the front, but the real back cover. And then all the discussions about the, more or less, grave differences in the artwork. And for what? For only some releases, in one single locality.

You have the same discussion when there's a reflective slip cover and tiny differences in the underlying amaray cover. The problem is that people are far too obsessed with what should be the perfect cover for the online database.

For example: Let's assume locally you have the cover with the ratings logo and suddenly someone contributes the Wendecover without the ratings logo. If you want to keep the ratings variant, simply ensure it by locking the cover. Or if it's the other way around: You want the new one but aren't sure they will be accepted. Then simply copy the images from the voting screen to your profile and then lock it.

Locks can make life so much easier and less stressful. It's just a DVD database, not the New New Testament. In 20 years all of this will be in the digital nirvana again.

In Canada I have lot's of films with reversible covers English one side French the other and I would have never even considered entering that as a feature.

I only do it when the covers are different. The canadian reversible cover are the same one side or another, just french on one side and english on the other.

I'm fine with that data being in the Other Features area.  Not for it taking a valuable slot in the Features. I'd prefer that area to stay open for more major features that apply to all localities.
