| Posted: | | | | My list of pending updates shows a contribution for 'Hot Shots! Part Deux', and it has, among other things, this cast change: Now, I can understand the move of these three people to the top, as it is actually true that these three are shown in the end credits BEFORE the "regular" cast list (note that the current profile has them listed at the very bottom of the cast list, after those credited in the "regular" cast list). So yeah, I understand the move to the top - I'm not questioning that. I do want to know about the empty divider, though. Yes or no: are we really using empty dividers for this? | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | Is this another case of "there is a gap in the cast list, therefor I'm inserting an empty divider"? In either case, I'd vote no. (And last time I did, the contribution was declined.) | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | I would definitely vote no to an empty group divider. The Rules say: "If a film has actors listed in the opening credits, which are not listed in the end credits, add these to the list in DVD Profiler before those taken from the end credits." So the rules don't say to use an empty group divider to separate those actors. There is some sort of grouping here but a divider doesn't mirror the credits because there is simply no divider in the credits to begin with. | | | Cor | | | Last edited: by Corne |

| Posted: | | | | Nope as well.
It seems somehow forced. Although they are separated sort of within the credits, they aren't a group within themselves. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

Many thanks to those whon gave their opinion! I'll also explain to you WHY this is not "much ado about nothing": if nobody votes against this (and I actually was the first no-voter after many yes-voters) it's likely to get accepted into the database. Since I wouldn't be doing this locally, that would virtually cut me off from contributing any further cast additions or corrections to that profile - if I wanted to do that, I'd have to go through the ordeal of putting the empty divider in my cast list first, then contribute the necessary changes, and then fix it right back. I can see how this wouldn't pose a problem for a user that doesn't contribute, but for others, it does, and that's why it's decidedly not "much ado about nothing". |

I don't believe that you can legitimately vote No. Based on the wording of the Rules you could make an argument for both yes and no. The issue is not explicitly discussed in the Rules therefore any such no vote would be creating your own Rule and not following the rules as written. I repeat i could make an argument for either yes or No based upon the Rules, BUT it is not explicitly covered. Sorry. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Actually, the contribution is mine. I've tried to use an end divider only, but this didn't work. The way I contributed it, is the only way I could match the credits. If nobody wants this, I'll keep it local. If anybody has a better way, I'm open to suggestions. But the way the profile is now, is completely wrong, as the original contritbutor added the first 3 credited actors at the end of the cast list. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

I repeat i could make an argument for either yes or No based upon the Rules, BUT it is not explicitly covered. Sorry. I am aftaid I will have to disagree as a blank divider does not fit any of the criteria given in the rules. The first line of the Divider rule... "Dividers allow the segregation of cast and crew into logical groupings. Wherever possible, these groupings should mirror the film credits." ...tells us what dividers are for, to allow the segregation fo cast and crew into logical groupings. The bullet points... Use Episode dividers for TV show episodes, distinct films, or other logical episodic distinction. Also use episode dividers for full cast division, such as "Japanese Voices". Use Group dividers to designate cast grouped in the credits such as "Soldiers" or "Additional Cast". "Cast", "In order of appearance" or other similar headers at the start of the credits should not be entered....tell us when, and when not, to use them. A blank divider does not fit either of those situations. Since it doesn't, and I don't see, "Use Group dividers to designate a space in the credits," I feel quite comfortable in voting no. While your interpretation may not be the same as mine, I am certainly not creating my own rule. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
