| Posted: | | | | In Germany we often have Titles like Original Title + German Subtitle. Like on the following cover: . How should those Titles be contributed. I tried change some Titles from hyphen to colon. But now I'm getting No-Votes. IMO we either should use a colon or a hyphen. There needs to be a Standard for this. The rules, under section "Title" say: Episode descriptors are part of the title; separate them with a colon and space; e.g. "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock". For multiple descriptors, use a colon and space for each break. But can this be applied for the German Title situation? | | | Raphael |

I am trying to figure out why you need a poll.
The Rules state: "Episode descriptors are part of the title; separate them with a colon and space; e.g. "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock". For multiple descriptors, use a colon and space for each break."
Seems VERY clear to me. Just follow the Rules.

| Posted: | | | | The Rules are very clear about this. Like you said, it's with a colon. You're completely right.
The only time I can think of when a hyphen should be used is when there's a visible hyphen in the title. | | | Cor |

| Posted: | | | | Indeed, just follow the rules.
And you'll probably want to enter Snatch in the Original Title field. |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I just wanted to make sure, that I don't contribute something wrong. I put a quote of Rules into my contribution notes. Quoting dee1959jay: Quote: Indeed, just follow the rules.
And you'll probably want to enter Snatch in the Original Title field. I always put the Original Title in the OT-Field if it differs from the Cover. In this case it is "Snatch." as Credited. | | | Raphael |

| Posted: | | | | I'm sorry, but my opinion is another. I think "Snatch - Schweine und Diamanten" is best. Most titles (locality Germany) containing such a "tagline" are like this in database.
The Rules say use a colon (" : ") for episode descriptors and music productions.
So I wouldn't use colons for seperating the taglines. This would bring up the idea there is another episode of snatch. But this is just my opinion and I don't think this is clear in the rules. |

| Posted: | | | | Well, Virus, you are wrong, just follow the Rules. If you are the reason he posted this poll then you should be ashamed of yourself. Follow the Rules my friend and don't try to twist them to your own wishes.
When you make a statement like "I think "Snatch", that is YOUR personal preference and there is a place for your personal preference and it is NOT the Online, it belongs only in your local.

| Posted: | | | | Agree with VirusPil and TomGaines. This is not an episode descriptor, so that part of the rules has not to be applied. | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | Well Tom, with all due respect that is not the way it should work, I don't remember any such discussion and this poll seems to agree with the Rule. As fior surefeur,, I know he will take any opportunity he can find to try and create chaos in the online. He wants everybody on their own page and doing data entry any way they want instead of a unified approach, don't you Yves.

| Posted: | | | | Tom is right, since there is only one "Snatch"-movie it can't be interpreted as "episode descriptor". | | | Last edited: by SpaceFreakMicha |

I hate to break it to you, but you are losing. Simply follow the Rules. If you don't believe it take a look at the hundreds and hundreds of Region 1 that use similar tittling, Lost, Desperate Housewives just to name two. I know Yves wants it, but users simply can't go running and doing whatever they please.

| Posted: | | | | Can someone please point out where exactly this is listed in the rules.
I have always used ":" but, after reading this thread, I agree that "episode descriptor" is not relevant in this case.
It this is not specifically addressed then either point of view are equally correct since both sides are only addressing an opinion...not a fact. |

| Posted: | | | | I have to agree with Skip on this one. While I can't say I know what the cover says (I don't speak the language)... The fact is that the colon is not only used for a series of movies (sequels and such) but also for subtitles.
Some examples from my collection..
- All Souls Day: Dia de los Muertos - Batman: Gotham Knight - Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - Batman: The Movie - Boogeymen: The Killer Compilation - Category 6: Day of Destruction - Dracula: Dead and Loving it
and that is just glancing at a small portion of my list. If this case is about subtitle that has always been done with the episode descriptor rule as well. | | | Pete |
