| Posted: | | | | I submitted a change to 'Monsters vs Aliens' where I, in my mind, corrected the studios. The no votes are saying that the studios are not as listed in the opening credits. Here are the opening and closing studio credits: That's it, nothing else. The existing profile lists the studios as 'DreamWorks Animation SKG' and 'Paramount'. Since we are allowed to use 'correct names', per the rules, I changed them to 'Paramount Pictures', because release studio comes first, and 'DreamWorks Animation'...the latter being based off of the copyright wich is: So my question...did I do this right or am I out in left field again? Should the studios be 'DreamWorks Animation SKG' and 'Paramount' or 'Paramount Pictures' and 'DreamWorks Animation'. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. The rules don't say where the correct studio names must come from (beginning credits...end credits). They do specify Theatrical Release company and Production Company, so I say you are doing it right! | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | it can be confusing but here is the rule on Studios:
Enter the DVD publishing company which is usually found (dated with the year of the DVD release) on the back of the box. If the DVD Publishing company isn't located on the box or packaging, take the DVD publisher from the disc's credits.
I have seen several times where the box list the studios in a different order than the film credits. But as per the rules the back of the package takes priority over the actual film. I dont agree I personally think it should be the other way but those are the rules.
Good luck. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree, Paramount first, it is the theatrical release company
We have had discussion before about DreamWorks Animation and DreamWorks. I do beleive the correct form is DreamWorks Animation. |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, use the full and correct 'Paramount Pictures' and 'DreamWorks Animation' studio names (and in that order). |

So yes, Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation as the studios |

| Posted: | | | | Well there is nothing in the rules about which studio credit to use the Logo or the written. Dreamworks is listed several different ways in credits and package, whom is to say which is right. If its the written credit, than is it the one in the opening credits or the end. And on another note what if we don't go by logos what about all the DC comics credits that are just from Logo, they haven't even had an actual Producion Company until recently. Rule are not discriptive enough. |

The Rules State: "Studios List the Studios in the following priority.
* Theatrical Release Studio(s) * Production Company(s) Enter the DVD publishing company which is usually found (dated with the year of the DVD release) on the back of the box. If the DVD Publishing company isn't located on the box or packaging, take the DVD publisher from the disc's credits.
Do not abbreviate Studio names. e.g, use Universal Pictures not just Universal; The Criterion Collection rather than Criterion or Criterion Collection; Walt Disney Pictures not just Disney or Disney DVD. Exception: If the studio name is too long to fit, use standard abbreviation rules.
Omit company suffixes such as LLC, Ltd., Inc.
Omit any locality-specific suffix. e.g. Enter Paramount Home Entertainment, not Paramount Home Entertainment (UK)
There is further information about correct names for studios, and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum."
The data supplied by Martian clearly indicates that Paramount Pictures IS the Theatrical Distributor and as such they have the FIRST slot (priority)
He has it dead right.DreamWorks animation is the lead Production Studio.

| Posted: | | | | Wouldn't the SKG in DreamWorks depend on WHEN the movie was made? I believe they dropped the "suffix" at some point...
And since this is a brand new movie, I'd say skip it! | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks folk...I was pretty sure I had it right but, you get 4 no votes and you start to wonder...and James is right. I am already mad so crazy is just around the corner. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
