What should the edition/title/original title be for this one -

How it currently is 1 -

Title -The Evil Dead
Original Title -
Edition - Limited Edition: Book of the Dead

My opinion it should be 2 -

Title -The Evil Dead: The Book of the Dead
Original Title - The Evil Dead
Edition - Limited Edition

How another contribution is changing it 3 -

Title -The Evil Dead
Original Title -
Edition - The Book of the Dead: Limited Edition

My reasons for changing it are that I see it the same way as given in the rules under modified titles -

Quote:
#  Modified Titles: The Original Title field will contain the original theatrical title, while the Title field will contain the title of the DVD release.  For instance, for the Special Edition rerelease of There's Something About Mary:

    * Title: There's Something More About Mary
    * Original Title: There's Something About Mary

So I believe that only "Limited Edition" should be in the edition for this & the rest of the entry should be in Title & have the screen title in Original.

I've had a look at other entries for this title & there's a mix of variants at the moment.

Thanks for any suggestions/advice.

Edit: Forgot the "Other" option but if you have something to suggest, please feel free.

Based on the two pack at Amazon, which includes both films, I would enter it as follows...

Title: The Evil Dead: The Book of the Dead
Edition: Limited Edition
Original Title: The Evil Dead

I say that because the two pack has Evil Dead 2: The Book of the Dead 2.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.

That's exactly what he has for option 2.

IMHO Option 2 is the best choice.

I'd definitely go with Option 2 also.

I own the R1 version (013131-190496) of this title, and that's how it's always been listed in the database.

I answered the question before I looked at his options...didn't want to be influenced in any way.  After I hit submit, I saw that he had the exact same solution.  Great minds and all.

option 3 is correct

"Use the title from the film's credits."

and the There's Something More About Mary example doesnt count, because its a different cutversion

That's for the original title, for the title it comes from the DVD cover.

I'll agree with you about the smell but not the rest

If it didn't have "Limited Edition" I might agree but as it's got it there, you want to put that bit after another bit which doesn't mention edition?

And while the situation is different regarding Mary, the principle is still the same. It's a different title for what is effectively the same product.

What I think is strange is that the result in this thread is the exact opposite to what the comments is in the thread about King Arthur: Director's Cut.

I can't really see the difference

Thanks again all, it looks like the vast majority agree with how I've submitted it.

For the one "No" voter I can't get any more into the contribution notes but the Title field may or may not be the same as the credits title, this is why we have the Original Title field as well.

Just as an update, the other contribution that changed it as per option 3 has been accepted.

Now just to see if the other one will be accepted in a couple of days.
