My steelbook version of The Dark Knight has a rear paper jacket with correct UPC and Overview as well as brief description of DVD listed on this sleeve that is Underneath the cellophane wrapper at the store., so this description helps you in your purchase. When you remove this insert the rear jacket is now the shiny artwork of the The Dark Knight with no upc or any description. My contribution so far has garnered a No vote as this is the actual rear cover. Which leads me to this post.
I have a DVD of Schindler's List that also has a paper rear jacket as well as many other titles too, and once this sleeve is removed the rear jacket is just a plain no frills no artwork rear cover. Should these rear covers be submitted as the actual rear cover or does the artwork you see, with UPC, the actual submitted rear cover one should have listed for Profiler??

rules state: The covers must match the profile exactly, including the UPC and locality.
But at what point?  point of sale? or point of one's one shelf art?
If as you say 'Actual rear cover' should I resubmit all my existing DVD's such as Schindler's list some others with plain one colored rear jacket???

I have always seen the paper scanned and submitted.  In my opinion, that is the correct way to do it.  As you explained, that is what we see in the store AND it contains all the information that is going to be submitted.  So, please, do not replace what is online with a scan of the 'blank' back.

I could not find a statement in the rules that is clear about this special case.
I would say, use the paper, because it has all the info and the UPC

I agree: use the sheet of paper for the cover. It doesn't make sense to use the back of the cover that doesn't contain any information. That sheet of paper is what you see when you look at the DVD in the store, so that's what the image in Profiler should be.

This is not a new issue with steelbooks.  There are a lot of special edition, multi-DVD sets out there which have a single sheet of paper on the back of the cover. Some of these are tacked to the cover with a removable glue, but not all of them.  Often, the actual back cover is completely blank.  In these cases, scanning the actual cover instead of the attachment is worthless as a data element, IMO.  Especially since you lose the UPC.

Here is the same topic as relates to Highlander.

I think they ended up with the paper (not a full sheet) over the steel.

why buying the steelbook? you know you would get in trouble with those sheet of paper Had a look at the LOTR cases (not steelbook) they all had the paper sheet scanned and had not scanned the nice artwork of those backcovers.

Artwork, schmartwork.  To me the data about the film is much more important than a pretty picture.

Always goes for the info for backcover myself.
UPC, Rating, Overview etc...

Sometimes the info is on the bottom of the case and I would scan that over an blanc back.

that precious data is in the database

True, but it's easier to find on the back cover than through several menus.

What sounds "precious" (there's that word again) to me is that pretty back cover that doesn't convey any information -- like the UPC/EAN for example.

Same topic discussed HERE
The answer was scan the covers as you might see it in the store on its original release format which would be the rear paper jacket in this case since that is what is seen at the store.
