I was just wondering...
When DVD Profiler first was made, did somebody manually entered information for thousands of movies?

Or was it the members who started writing info? How was it?
Just curious

It is a user-built database. Does that answer your question.

A little bit, but still not if DVD Profiler started with zero entries and then when the users came the profiles also came.

I am just curious, not trying to offend anybody.

I think at this point almost only the author of the program can answer that. I have been using the program since version 0.9 and at that time already all profiles I needed were present...

When DVDs first went on sale in Missouri, I bought 9 or so.  Players weren't even out at the time in Missouri- only in test markets.   Between the first 9 and the first 50, I created the first verison of DVD Profiler (then called DVD Organizer) and entered some basic details for the discs I had.  The first version went out with a database of those 50 or so, but at the time there were only about 200 available anywhere.

Absolutely - I wouldn't mind a delay of the next Beta in exchange for a complete story-arc, complete with screenshots of the different versions (if they exist), and even the changelogs back from the beginning until today (if he's still got'em)...

I don't think anyone was offended. Actually, I have to admit, it's a very good question I personally had never thought about and now was very curious about the answer as well.

Thanks for the insight, Ken.

Offended...why? I agree with Achim, it was an interesting question and the FIRST time I have seen it asked. Unlike some questions we get.

Hehe, no, because when you answered my question first: it's a user-built system. does that answer your question? And then "skip" in the end. (It was only later on your other posts I saw that it's standard in your signature. Hehe  )

I thought that you were annoyed by my question. And with skip you meant something like: next question? Or skip this thread or something

But I'm glad to see that my thread made you guys curious as well
