I think "sound engineer" would just get a "Sound" credit but may be wrong.

'Sound Engineer' is not included in the list of Profiler credits so it does not get entered.

Based on the current rules, "Sound Engineer" does not get credited.

As far as the name, it really could go either way.  Having no other information I would probably go with Ella/Mae/Smith.

There is a DVDP role (Sound Re-Recording Mixer) for a "Sound Re-Recording Engineer" , though

I don't know if it makes a difference but it is an old film 1968 so maybe "Sound Engineer" is a term that is no longer used also it is the only sound credit.

Ninehours:

It makes NO difference how old it is. If it is not listed it is not used. And there is NO Sound Engineer listed.

Ella/Mae/Smith by the book for openers. She COULD be Ella Mae//Smith but I won't assume that to be true, either one could be ultimately correct.

If it's the only sound credit in the entire credits, and the film is "old", then I would enter it as 'Sound'. Especially since the notes in the contribution rules say "Primarily used in older films".
Not including the name would leave you with an empty sound section in the credits, while you know who did the sound. That just can't be right...

More shoe horning.

I love it.

Keep it up and the crew credits will become totally worthless.

Except the rules don't make an exception for this.  The rule says, "If someone is not credited with one of these roles, do not include them in the Crew section."  There is nothing there that says, "unless it is the only sound credit and the film is "old"."
