| Posted: | | | | I submitted some changes to The Cell (794043-515026) today, including changing a character role capitalization to match that seen in the credits.
The role on screen is: Woman In Tub The role in Profiler is: Woman in Tub (lowercase "i")
I changed Profiler to match the screen based on the Rules as quoted here:
"For any film with standard credits, take the actor information from the end credits only, with names and roles listed exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited. Exception: If the credit information is entirely capitalized, use standard capitalization rules instead."
As the role is mixed case the exception doesn't apply so i updated the role to exactly that seen on screen: "Woman In Tub"
A voter is disagreeing with the change saying that "Standard Capitalization" should apply instead. I don't see where the Rules allow for that in a Role (unless it was entirely capitalized, not the case here). PMs haven't changed anything.
This Rule is, to me, as straightforward as they get.

| Posted: | | | | You are correct. The only time 'standard capitalization rules' apply is when the entire role is capitalized. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I would have to agree...certain people are extrapolating from the rules about capitilization of titles and are trying to apply them to credits as well. Certain people who seem to believe that they single-handedly designed the rules and should therefore be the final arbiter of all things rulish. | | | Last edited: by bob9000 |

| Posted: | | | | My reading of this is that you are correct, Gary. I also think we have some vulnerability if the credits are all in lower case... | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | I don't have this movie, but the rules are pretty straight forward here.
You credit exactly as you see on screen so if it's shown as "Woman In Tub" then that is how you credit it. On the other hand, if it's "WOMAN IN TUB" then you credit it as "Woman in Tub". For those of us who don't own the title, it's hard to tell without a screen cap of the actual credit.
Assuming it is indeed on screen as "Woman In Tub" then I have a guess at what this user may be thinking after reading the rules again. I think it may be an interpretation of "If the credit information is entirely capitalized, use standard capitalization rules instead." to mean something along the lines of "If the first letter of each word in the credit information is entirely capitalized, use standard capitalization rules instead." When actually the rule is meant pretty literally so it's supposed to cover cases where the credit is like "WOMAN IN TUB". When the entire role is capitalized then you need to apply standard capitalization rules.
If that is not the case then I have no idea what this person may be thinking, but they are clearly not following the rules then. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

Wow, you guys have real problems here.... Agreed. Changing "in" to "In" is such a trivial change it defies belief. Why would you even bother. |

Completely in lower case (against the rules in my opinion) or just standard? I like to hear your opinions about this since for some people changing the Cast from lower to upper case is a major problem. |
