| Posted: | | | | What's This? Two HTML sections to display sortable cast and crew credits with special consideration for multi-episode credits. FeaturesCompact display for multi-episode credits showing one entry per person and the numbers of the episodes they appear in.Sortable by name or credits order, both in compact and normal mode.Configurable via conditional compiling options. Note: To be recognized as multi-episode credits, the first credit entry must be a divider that starts with a positive number. Otherwise the credits are displayed in the usual manner (sorting is still available, though). Download at http://www.geocities.com/goodguy_dvdpro/Feedback is appreciated. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | A very nice idea, implemented excellently!
I'd like some suggestions though: For multi-season profiles (e.g. Battlestar Gallactica) we may have dividers that start with the season number followed by the episode number (e.g. 2x01, 2x02, 2x03, ...) What would be the best way to change the numbering to work with Cast+/Crew+? I tried Episode.Season (e.g. 01.2, 02.2, ... 10.2) which basically works but in my opinion isn't really a readable form...
Somebody has better ideas? |

I don't think having full credits for multi-season boxsets is a good idea, but I don't want to start an argument on this, at least not in this thread. To work with the current implementation of Cast+/Crew+, you need a flat numbering scheme (as was agreed upon for episode deviders, IIRC), e.g. 1x22 -> 22 and 2x01 -> 23. Support for 2x01-style (or similar, is there a standard?) episode numbers requires implementation changes. It shouldn't be that hard, but since I myself don't use them, it isn't a top priority for me. The bigger problem is script performance. I'm not sure how this will scale up if there are 10 seasons a 22 episodes worth of credits in a single profile. Quote: I tried Episode.Season (e.g. 01.2, 02.2, ... 10.2) which basically works but in my opinion isn't really a readable form... That doesn't work for multi-seasons, because 01.1 and 01.2 (meaning 1x01 and 2x01) would both be summarized into episode 1 regardless of season. | | | Matthias | | | Last edited: by goodguy |

Somebody has better ideas? How about using a manual Profile as a Mega Box Set and coping all the Cast 7 crew for each individual season into notepad first so that you can join them and then past as an entire mega box cast / crew to give you that information...since it is a manual created profile you won't be able to contribute it so it will remain local as well. Apart from that Nice Work Matthias. It has helped me find cast that were inconsistant (character name) in a few of my TV series. ie Doctor v Dr. helps to have them all assigned the same over a series. Steve |

I think 30 is the most you can expect for Seasons, performance should still be fine. Multiple seasons are probably box sets and the Cast & Crew would be in the child profile for the seasons. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | Quoting Staid S Barr from the Features Plus thread: Quote: Just a question about this Feature, something that puzzles me.
For 'crew', when a profile has crew before the numbered episode list, this Feature shows them incorporated in the list, but without apisode number obviously. That can be interpreted as all, and is probably what the contributor of the profile intended.
For 'cast', when a profile has cast before the numbered episode list, this Feature does not trun into a list of cast with episode numbers at all, but remains a list of episodes with cast. (Does that make sense in English?).
I actually prefer the 'crew' type behaviour, although contributed profiles are supposed to repeat cast and crew for all episodes. That can be boring work though.
By the way, this is one of those Features that I use all the time, together with the Name Variants tool. Actors, (some) crew, and the linking thereof interests me a lot more than say, studios or SRP. So thanks again for making this available. The intended behavior is to show the compact multi-episode credits only if the very first credit entry is a divider that starts with a positive number. However, the DP tags for crew are splitted into crew sections (Writing, Production, etc.) and in each section the dividers are repeated. If at least one section does not have entries before the first episode divider, it triggers the compact listing for all crew sections, but without correctly showing the episode numbers for those sections that do have entries before the first episode divider. Credits Plus has to use the DP tags instead of HEADER_VARS, because the HEADER_VARS don't provide the lookup keys for the credit crosslink popup. Bottom line: To correctly display multi-episode credits in compact format, do not list any crew before the first episode divider. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | I really like these HTML sections, but wonder if it would be possible to allow the first episode to have the number "0", for pilot episodes where the next episode is occasionally numbered "1". | | | Hans |
