I am adding it... It is what ken clarified the rules to mean... so for the online database that is what it must be,.

Just to be clear, we don't have to add anything. There are very few fields that are mandatory in a boxset parent. But if we do add dimension and color, they should follow standard rules. And if they are present we should not remove them (from the online, that is).

I would prefer that we don't add them, and those who desire them can add them locally. But there is of course the opposite possibility; remove them locally if you don't like them.

Can we get consensus on which line of action is the most appropriate? Ha! Consensus? When did that ever happen?

That's why I am going to lock that section down and keep them local.

You brought up consensus!! Even on what should be an easy problem to solve we rarely get one. So I think this would be no different.

Heck, the rules haven't been updated in 3 years, even after an update to the program (Likely more than one over the past 3 years.)

As I already said, I was going to bring this up in the Rules Committee section, but decided not to since there really is no reason if the rules won't even be updated.
It really seems that we are on our own as it seems that Ken is M.I.A..

I agree with GSyren!

We do not HAVE to add something just because Ken has written this is all good, seven years ago.

Please, Addicted2DVD, do not add this data to empty/emptied profiles!
Keep them local for all our sanity's sake and it's so totally annoying seeing these (IMO) nonsensical contributions that are also in line with e.g. re-ordering genres. Which is a contribution that is against the rules since it doesn't really add anything to the DB.

I am feeling very tempted to vote "no" for contributions, citing that rule, because I do not want AR info on box sets as this is, rather objectively, inconsistent data, even if it happens to be valid for all titles in said box set.
CubbyUps mentioned this as well...!

Please withdraw your contributions regarding this, Addicted2DVD.
Leave box set data empty, until further notice. Because I definitely think the rules need to change.
The whole thing just doesn't make sense and A. Ken is not around any more and B. he didn't think things through completely (it seems) or at least, even the program developer can be wrong. And we are still the community here so our votes are stronger than his, especially since, again, Ken isn't around any more.

Also, who the heck is running Invelos ATM? Are we left on our own on this ship or what?
If so, it'll all be "R.I.P." in time...

There's so much left to do for both rules and other updating and definitely to freshen up the software as well. Also, the mobile app sucks and is almost completely useless.

All that said, I'm still in favor of "no data for box set profiles", except what is most natural for them to have.

The same could be said for the opposite, one doesn't have to accept any changes to one's local database based on updates to the online database.

Except those contributions ARE in line with the rules where as removing the information IS against the rules.  Two completely different scenarios.

Your opinion seems to me biased and subjective.
There's also the rule "Make sure your contributions add significant value to the database."
Thus, I will be voting "no" for contributions that wishes to add /back/ this nonsensical data.

So, adding this data is a waste of time. Removing it is unnecessary. But both things are not needed and the rules simply have to change regarding this, because it's all just random and nonsensical, in perspective.

I am basically done with all the box sets I have.  These are per the rules that Invelos has for THIER  online database that is what it must be. I will not be withdrawing.

You can have whatever you like in your local as always but the online database must be in compliance with the rules.

So the only ones I will be updating/making per the rules from this point is the ones I recieve in the future. Or any that gets changed again (without a rules change) or is declined.

I will always make contributions to the online database to bring profiles up to the rules we have.
